Presentation: Highly Automated Driving for Heavy-Duty Trucks
Speaker: Dr. Anurag Ganguli, VP of R&D at Plus
Description: The last few years have seen tremendous progress in the development of autonomous technology for cars and commercial vehicles. While substantial progress has been made towards Level 4 driver-out technology for heavy-duty trucks, no commercial products exist today. It is, however, possible to productize certain aspects of the technology to achieve Highly Automated Driving (HAD) — a new class of driver-assistance products with a high degree of automation that enables increased safety, improved fuel efficiency, and driver comfort. In this talk, we describe the features and technology behind PlusDrive, a HAD product currently being used in the US and EU markets. We also discuss how such a product accelerates the path to a safe, reliable, and commercially-feasible Level 4 technology in a cost-efficient manner.
