Panel: Economic Impact of Autonomous Vehicles: Global Insights
Wednesday, Aug 27th at 08:00 - 09:30 AM
Autonomous vehicles of all types are now at the early stages of commercial deployment globally. They are expected to generate network scale economic impacts, but these changes will be non-linear and therefore difficult to quantify. In contrast, there are well-established methods for assessing the economic impacts of traditional transportation investments and businesses. Automated vehicles, however, generate a different scale of economic impacts across supply chains, personal mobility, safety, efficiency, and workforce. This session will review the business case for current AV deployment in Asia-Pacific and relevant examples from past large-scale transportation-related deployments in North America and Europe. These examples will shed light on the scale of economic activity that AV systems could generate.
